Mentor

Peer Mentor A peer mentor is a voluntary college student that plans and conducts experiential exercises for the target group. S/he plays an active role in facilitating the group-feedback process and turns their experience into an individual learning process. Peer mentor selection method and requirements of working as a peer mentor may change depending on the demographic structure of the university that implements the program.

Supervisor

The person(s) who is in charge of all the actvities of student peer community. They may be a faculty member or an employee of senior management. The main task of the volunteer supervisor is to train and support peer mentors. The supervisor is also the observer and assessor of the experiential exercises conducted by the peer mentors

Mentee

Candidate for Peer Mentor A mentee is a college student that volunteers to work as a peer mentor in his/her university. They take responsibility and devotes the necessary amount of time to accomplish requirements of the project.

Required qualifications for a candidate peer mentor is as follows:

 

  • volunteering
  • self-discipline in time management
  • no other primary occupation
  • no serious health problems
  • stable academic achievement

Beneficiaries

They are college students who actively participate in experiential learning exercises that are facilitated by peer mentors. They are motivated to give feedback on their experiences during exercises and to increase their awareness on basic life skills such as strategic thinking, decision making, empathy, active listening, self-expression, motivation, persuasion, initiative taking, goal setting, diversity, and resilience. These students are those who will benefit from the project in long term.
